Sophie found everything new and exciting - well it would be if you weren't used to being given the run of an entire house full of 'things' and were used to living in a run with other cats - she wasn't really a fan of other cats, especially kittens which she wouldn't tolerate at all. I knew we were a great match as I wasn't a fan of babies either!
I was amazed by how quickly she learnt about everything - a covered litter box was taken to very quickly and before long she stopped walking round with her tail down and started strutting about as Queen of the castle. Bengals are noted for their high intelligence rate and ability to learn 'tricks' like dogs, which I'll come to later.

Within hours she had taken to her scratching post (thank goodness as that saved my furniture!). And she quickly showed she enjoyed playing with a human, which she was also not used to.
She was a bit unsure as to where she wanted to sleep - the first couple of days she slept at the bottom of the bed but as it was warm she moved to a cooler spot high up near the window. She still swaps sleeping areas - ranging from right next to me in bed to a cushion on the settee and occasionally her original choice near the window. The only place she doesn't sleep is the bed I bought her! Yes, I know now - they don't sleep in beds or play with expensive toys, preferring to play with string and empty cardboard boxes - a regular mistake of all new pet owners!
Sophie settles in within 2 days of arriving at hew new home.
For the first few days Sophie sat on me at every opportunity and if I stroked her she 'kneaded' my knee - so much so I had to put a cushion on my knee as I was covered in scratches from her 'loving' me! As she's grown in confidence she doesn't do that as much and hasn't turned into the 'lap cat' I thought she might be.
